General Information
The Balsa Busters field which is an all grass runway 100 x 650 feet. All flight lines are clearly defined, starting benches, pilot stations, plenty of parking, on-site camping available, no hook ups.
Two flight lines will be established, as needed depending on turnout.
All pilots must remain behind the flight line designating the edge of the runway, except in Limbo and Tabletop Touch-and-Goes.
Flying behind the zero line will earn a warning, and then a zero.
Unlimited classes will fly twice for each task, and keep the lower time.
Fun Fly classes will fly each task once. One makeup round will be offered, in
which the pilot may better his score. The better of the two scores will be
retained for the selected task. Magic class is for fun, and will fly each task
once and no re-flies/tries
Pilots may enter one Unlimited class and one Fun Fly class. Prior winners at national level events are required to play in the Masters level.
Pilots must use the same plane for all tasks in a class. Planes may be changed if the starting plane is damaged beyond repair, with CD approval.
CD may change tasks based on number of entries, or for any other reason. These events are to be considered tentative at this time. Event sequence may change. More detailed rules may be presented at the contest, written or verbally prior to each task.
Unlimited tasks are timed from first motion of the plane until touchdown. Fun Fly tasks are timed and some are scored. Engine must continue to operate after final touchdown, and plane must be flyable upon request, or a zero is earned.
Electrics: Like powered planes, the prop must continue to turn throughout the flight and landing. On dead-stick events, the prop must stop. Therefore, set your speed controllers to brake, but also set up an idle-up to keep the brake off for powered tasks.
Aircraft Limitations in Effect as indicated below:
Masters Unlimited and Sportsman
Unlimited:
Any plane that meets the AMA safety code. Fixed wing only.
Pilots must use the same plane for all tasks unless damaged
beyond repair and cleared with CD.
Masters Fun Fly and Sportsman Fun Fly:
No stick/ boom planes allowed. Mixing will be allowed. Fixed
wing only.
Profile fuselage airplanes are allowed with the following
limits:
The profile fuselage must be a minimum of 1/4-inch wide,
(3)-inches high at the back plate area of the engine, and one
1-inch high at the leading edge of the horizontal stab. The
vertical fin or subfin can be used in obtaining these
dimensions. At some point between the engine mounting plate and
the leading edge of the horizontal stab the fuselage must be
5-inches high. This dimension can be obtained with a cockpit
outline or a gradual slope from 3-inches up to 5-inches and back
down to 1-inch. A 3-inch high fuselage with a 5-inch high stick
will not meet the intent of this rule. The main landing gear
must have two wheels mounted parallel to an imaginary line
between the center of each wing tip. There will be a minimum of
6 inches between the inside edges and maximum of 20 inches to
the outside edges of each wheel. Wing tip wheels will not be
considered as main landing gear.
Pilots must use the same plane for all tasks unless damaged beyond repair and cleared with CD's.
